Today, the German Bundestag voted on the Federal Government’s draft law “on the further development of skilled immigration“. 388 MPs voted in favour of the draft, 234 parliamentarians voted against, and there were 31 abstentions. The Federal Minister of the Interior, Faeser, describes the law as “one of the most modern immigration laws in the world”. With almost two million vacancies (as of the end of 2020), it is to be hoped that the facilitations provided for in the law will also be implemented quickly and unbureaucratically by the administration. The new law is to come into force “on 01.12.2023 at the earliest”. (Source: German Bundestag – Draft law on skilled immigration adopted)
