The reform, which has been planned for some time, can now be discussed and adopted in the Bundestag as early as the beginning of 2024 .

Hardship clause
It remains to be seen what exactly the hardship clause that has now apparently been adopted, which provides for discretionary naturalisation for persons with disabilities or other people who are in receipt of benefits through no fault of their own, will look like.
