Federal government wants to eliminate the “lose-lose situation” – According to the federal government, anyone who has had a tolerated stay permit for at least 5 years, entered Germany before 1 January 2017 and has not committed any crimes should be granted an unbureaucratic “right of residence opportunity” for an initial period of 1 year. This is intended to reward integration in linguistic, economic and cultural terms. The federal government is thus implementing a project on migration law from the coalition agreement.
