Since April 1st, 2012, the Federal Recognition Act has introduced or partially simplified a procedure for assessing foreign professional qualifications.
Qualifications from non-EU countries (so-called third countries) now also allow recognition as a "skilled worker within the meaning of Section 18 of the Residence Act.
For the first time, strict legal rights were created to determine the equivalence of foreign professional qualifications with German professional qualifications. A processing period of 3 months was provided for. In the event of a rejection of the equivalence determination, legal recourse is open to the administrative courts.
